Local & organic

We’re located in the City of Auburn, about a mile from downtown. We’ve been growing pears and plums in Auburn, California since 1918, when George Boorinakis purchased the property on which our farm is located today. Now, four generations later, we are still a small family owned and operated business, and we are passionate about keeping it that way.

Our farm philosophy

We’re a registered organic farm, and we are committed to incorporating sustainable farming practices. We use integrated pest management and low-spray techniques to minimize our environmental impact, we keep bees to pollinate our crops, we provide habitat for pollinators and beneficials, and, since we’re local, our produce is never transported over long distances or kept in cold storage.

And, yes, honey!

Did you know that honey is a seasonal product? We harvest our delicious local wildflower honey from mid to late summer, when the bloom season ends. Blackberry, star thistle, clover… it’s Spring and Summer in a bottle. We process our honey very minimally, without fine filtration or heat, and we sell most of it at stores and farmer’s markets within walking distance of our ranch — as local as you can get!

Where to find us

Our self-serve farm stand is located at 485 Dairy Road, Auburn, and is open most days from around 9am-7pm. If you’d like to pick up honey, a larger quantity of pears for canning, juicing, etc, or other specialty items, please call or email — 530-823-9096 or bhranch@gmail.com. Some local markets carry our fruit and honey in season, including Sunrise Natural Foods and Natural Trading Company in Auburn, Briar Patch Co-Op in Grass Valley, and Newcastle Produce. Check out our Facebook page for updates on farmer’s markets and local shops. If you have questions or are looking for something particular, don’t hesitate to give us a call or email!
